Democratic Coalition Britain visit Sis

Kurdish activist Ilhan Sis, who continues his hunger strike in Newport, Wales, is receiving visitors. Among today’s visitors were representatives from the Democratic Coalition, which includes the Alevi Federation.

Democratic Coalition Britain representatives visited Ilhan Sis, who has been on a hunger strike in Newport, Wales for 65 days demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and showed solidarity.

Sis said the visits give him morale and strength and added that he continues the resistance as a Kurdish Alevi.

“WE WON’T ABANDON OUR PATH”

Sis said: “As a Kurdish Alevi, I speak up against this injustice. Undoubtedly, the Kurdish Freedom Struggle is our raison d’etre. Leader Apo’s struggle, the perspective for peace he put forth for the peoples of Turkey, these are projects all circles should embrace. Leader Apo is waging a struggle that is base on the democratic coexistence of peoples. Looking from this angle, the isolation impose upon Leader Apo also means attacks against peace in the mile east, attacks base on war and genocide. So, our hunger strikes are also actions aiming for peace and democracy. Like Pir Sultan says, ‘We won’t abandon our path, no matter who does’. This is our motto for this action. In this framework, today’s visit from the Alevi Federation Britain visiting us has given me strength and morale.”
