Thousands of people from Kobanê who have taken shelter in tent cities in Suruç district of Urfa after clashes have recently intensified in the besieged town are establishing their own systems in the areas they are inhabiting now.
The Kobanê citizens housed in four tent cities set up by the Suruç Municipalilty aim to maintain here the democratic autonomous system established in three cantons in Rojava, West Kurdistan, and to prevent a probable deterioration and disintegration the society might go through due to the ongoing war.
Kobanê People's Assembly Co-President Ayşe Efendi, who visited all four tent cities in the Suruç district, stressed that their people currently staying here would continue their lives in line with the principles of the democratic autonomous system.
Efendi remarked that they would prepare the ground for the establishment of units to deal with health, education, security and economic issues in all the tent cities, and that these would be based on the democratic autonomous system practiced in the cantons of Rojava.
Works for the establishment of a democratic system have already started in the Rojava Tent City where committees and commissions have been formed by the people living there.
Kobanê People's Assembly Co-President added that the people of Kobanê continued to get organised in the areas they are living now, adding that works for the establishment of the same system are also going on in the other three tent cities.
