In the Greek city of Lavrio, the Kurdish youth movement TCŞ organized a demonstration to mark the upcoming anniversary of Abdullah Öcalan's forced departure from Syria on October 9, 1998. Many hundreds of people participated in the demonstration. The activists marched through the city under PKK and KCK flags and distributed leaflets. Many people from the population cheered and applauded the activists, most of whom came from the refugee camp.
At the final rally, Serhed Erzurum spoke for TCŞ and declared that the conspiracy was against the will of the oppressed peoples, but failed because of the resistance on Imrali. He announced that the youth movement will expand the struggle in connection with the campaign "Stop fascism, isolation and occupation - time for freedom" initiated by the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) in September.
