Deposed HDP mayor of Bulanık sentenced to 8 years in prison

The HDP mayor of the Bulanık, Adnan Topçu, who was deposed by the Turkish Interior Ministry, was sentenced to more than eight years in prison for "membership in a terrorist organization" and "terrorist propaganda."

The political convictions against mayors from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) do not cease. The co-mayor of the Bulanık district in Muş province, Adnan Topçu, was sentenced to eight years, one month and 15 days in prison at the 2nd Heavy Penal Court of Muş. He received six years, ten months and 15 days of imprisonment on charges of "membership in a terrorist organization" and one year and three months for "terrorist propaganda." The politician's lawyer will appeal against the verdict.

Topçu had been deposed in December 2019 and subsequently imprisoned.
