Dersim marched against military operation

Hundreds of people joined the march that Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Dersim provincial organization organized on Monday in protest against the air-supported operation the Turkish military has launched in the Pülümür Valley, in the province of Dersim late on Saturday night.
The protest march against the operation was followed by a press conference at Art Street.
Speaking here, BDP Dersim provincial chair Abdullah Güler said  the democrat and patriot people of Dersim were concerned over the continuation of military operations and genocide policies in the process of ongoing talks with the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Abdullah Öcalan. Güler pointed out that the Kurdish leader should be provided with favourable conditions for negotiations.
Güler called for an urgent end to ongoing military operations which -he said- were the indications of AKP government's insincerity that became apparent in the processes of Oslo talks and “Democratic Initiative”.
Güler said that “As the people of Dersim, we once again underline that we will never remain silent on genocide operations that we have witnessed since 1938 and that we will continue to give a struggle to ensure the freedom of the Kurdish people, which means the liberation of Turkey's peoples,  a democratic solution to the Kurdish question, which means the democratization of Turkey, and a democratic status for the Kurdish people”.
