Detention operation against HDP members in Ankara

More people are getting arrested in Turkey in the crackdown staged by the government against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) before Sunday’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

Police forces carried out raids on several houses in Turkish capital Ankara Saturday morning. Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for 25 people and 7 of these have been taken into custody.

Executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) and ballot officers tasked for Sunday’s elections have been targeted in the operation. All the raided houses were searched in detail by the police.

Those detained in the operation so far include HDK Ankara provincial branch co-chair Fatma Kılıçarslan.
