The British Union of Democratic Forces protested the Turkish state's plans to change the demographic structure after the Kurdistan-centered earthquake.
The British Union of Democratic Forces reacted sharply to the Turkish state's plans to change the demographic structure after the Kurdistan-centered earthquake, saying, "The earthquake shook the region, but the Turkish state deliberately delayed the interventions and killed people."
Members of the Kurdish People's Assembly, British Alevi Federation, Cemevi, Day-Mer, YÇKM, Gik-Der and local associations of the British Democratic Power Union came together in front of the Haringey Civic Center to expose and protest the Turkish state's attitude towards the people after the Kurdistan-based earthquake.
The action of the DGB, composed by Kurdish, Alevi, left and revolutionary institutions, started with a minute's silence for those who lost their lives in the earthquake. In the action, banners and placards reading "Shame on Erdogan, shame on AKP", "Not the earthquake, but the corrupt state kills", "Capitalism kills, not the earthquake", "Stop bombing Rojava, send emergency aid" were carried.
Ercan Akbal on behalf of the Kurdish People's Assembly, Feyzullah Cinpolat on behalf of Day-Mer, BAF co-chair Müslüm Dalkılıç gave speeches and emphasized the importance of fighting together in solidarity to heal the wounds of the people against the policies of the fascist state.
The fascist government killed
Speaking on behalf of Day-Mer, Feyzullah Cinpolat said that the earthquake caused great destruction, but the AKP-MHP fascist government was responsible for the greatest destruction by preventing aid from solidarity.
The statement on behalf of the DGB was made by Sibel Ozcelik who said that tens of thousands of people lost their lives and thousands were injured in the two major earthquakes that occurred in Kurdistan and Turkey on the morning of 6 February. “The Turkish state did exactly what was expected of it. The reason for delaying the intervention is the fact that different nations live in the earthquake zone, Kurds, Arabs, and Alevis. The fascist state aims to change the demographic structure of the region by turning the earthquake into an opportunity to depopulate the region. For this reason, people were left under the rubble for three days, and search and rescue teams from various countries of the world were kept at airports for hours.”
Özçelik underlined that the earthquake shook the region, but the Turkish state deliberately delayed the interventions and killed the people. “Fascist Erdoğan is making calculations for new income gains by stating the number of buildings he will have built within a year.”
We are mourning
Özçelik added that the fascist state aims to discriminate the victims of the earthquake-destroyed cities with torture, oppression, oppression and racism, and to suppress the organization of anger that will threaten its own survival. She called “on everyone to participate in the actions to be taken. We say no to demographic change. We are in mourning; we are in revolt.”
