Die Linke in Lower Saxony approves motion for Shengal

The Congress of Die Linke in Lower Saxony passed a motion stating that the Yazidi community in Shengal should be supported in their demand for self-rule.

Die Linke in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), held its usual congress in the city of Hanover on Sunday. A motion on Shengal tabled by Kurdish woman politician Behiye Uca was passed.

Almost all of the delegates voted "yes" and demanded support for the struggle of Shengal for the self-rule of the Yazidi community. Moreover, the central government of Iraq and the KDP administration were called to "respect the will of the people of Shengal". The motion also condemned the invasion attempts carried out by Turkey in the region.
