Diplomatic efforts in Canada

Yusuf Iba, who had gone on a hunger strike against the Imrali isolation in Toronto, Canada, is meeting MPs and NGOs as part of diplomatic efforts.

Kurdish journalist Yusuf Iba had participated in the hunger strike resistance against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and after ending his hunger strike, started to work on diplomatic efforts. Iba has been meeting with Canadian politicians and NGO representatives to discuss Öcalan’s 7-point declaration.

RELAYING ÖCALAN’S MESSAGE

Iba has been visiting the NGOs and politicians who had visited him during the hunger strike and sharing Ocalan’s 7-point declaration with them. He has visited institutions in Ottawa as well as Toronto and met with MPs. Iba met with Canadian opposition Conservatives’ deputy chairperson and former minister Lisa Raitt and said Ocalan’s message should be correctly understood, asking for support for the Kurds’ peaceful policies especially in the case of Rojava. The two decided to meet in Ottawa again.

Yusuf Iba attended a festival the same day and was presented with a plaque by the Toronto City Council.
