DISK calls for the removal of police blockade

Kani Beko, President of the Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DİSK), demanded the removal of the police blockade around the DISK central office in Şişli, in a press statement he issued in front of the office.

Beko condemned the police attack and said the followings, "Police teams threw tear gas inside our office upon the demand of Interior Ministry. Some of our friends have been injured and we couldn't take them to hospital for a long time because all roads are under police blockade and even ambulances aren't allowed into the area".

Beko commented the attack on workers as a repression and terror targeting the workers who struggle for democracy, human rights and brotherhood in Turkey. He underlined that DISK members will however never give up the struggle as they have done so far.

Beko said they demanded the removal of police blockade so that workers can freely take to the streets to celebrate the May Day.
