Five people inluding Dogubayazit mayor Canan Korkmaz were taken into custody this morning following house raids by police.

The mayor was later released.

Police officers raided the premises of Dogubayazit municipality and the houses of many officials including the mayor.

Among other people detained were BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) District Executive Mehmet Birdal, Municipality Council member Nazan Baðlan Söðüt, BDP members Isa Karahan and Ahmet Ulaþ.
