DTK: Kurdish people will not accept court decision

The  political commission of the DTK (Democratic Society Congress) issued a statement following the rejection of the request for the release of the BDP MPs, stressing that the Kurdish people would never accept this, and would intensify their democratic resistance.

“Ever since the independence tribunals of the 1920s special courts have been set up to implement a special system for the Kurds. This latest decision confirms this."

The DTK political commission added: "A local court releases CHP MP Mustafa Balbay following the Constitutional Court's judgment that found prolonged pre-trial detention 'in violation of law', but when it came to BDP MPs a local court rejected their applications for release. This is in contravention of the 'Constitutional Principle of Equality' and a blatant example of a double standard. We condemn and do not recognise this decision, which demonstrates that colonialist justice continues for the Kurds."

The DTK emphasised that the efforts of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan to transform the talks into serious legally-based negotiations had not been reciprocated by the AKP, adding: "The recent murders of 3 people in Yüksekova and the fact that no investigation has been launched demonstrates that it is considered legitimate to murder Kurds, and abandon them in a random way to die in prison."

DTK called on Kurdish people to intensify the democratic resistance against the court decision.
