Düsseldorf rally starts with high enthusiasm

The rally in Düsseldorf for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s freedom started with thousands of participants. The crowd chanted slogans of freedom for Öcalan, and protested the provocations by the German police.

A rally with thousands of participants was held in Düsseldorf when the 26th International Kurdish Culture Festival to be held in Dinslaken, NRW was banned.

The rally started at 10:00 with tens of thousands of participants from various countries in Europe. The Afrin platform made up of 93 organizations and institutions organized the rally where attendees carried YPGY/YPJ flags and photographs of fighters who lost their lives in the Kurdish Freedom Struggle.

GERMAN POLICE LOOKING FOR PROVOCATION

The crowd frequently chanted "Bijî Serok Apo", "Bijî PKK", "Terrorist Erdoğan", "Murderer Erdoğan" and "Bijî berxwedana Efrînê" in the rally, and German police attempted a provocation, citing that the posters of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan are not allowed. The crowd protested the police who confiscated Öcalan posters and attempted to detain a group of young people.

The crowd protested the police with slogans of "Bijî Serok Apo" and "Bijî PKK" and stopped the detention. The rally committee said the police apologized after the tension, and warned the crowd against such provocations. The rally continues with enthusiasm.
