Edremit Municipality trustee Ismail Say is seeking new income with the 'Floating Hotel' project.

There are rumours that the income to be obtained from the hotel will be delivered to AKP members under the name of social assistance.

The beautiful natural spots of Van Lake have recently turned into the AKP's way to make money.

Hundreds of HEPPs and dams were built in areas with streams and water resources, especially in the Van Lake basin. Due to the dams and HEPPs, nature was slaughtered, water resources dried, hundreds of living species killed. The AKP has now a new project for Van Lake.

State institutions and trustees in Van have divided the shores and beachesof Lake Van among themselves. Citizens are prohibited from entering the beaches and have to go 40 or 50 kilometres away to enjoy Van Lake.

The AKP and its trustees, who are gradually expanding their income area in Van, will now build a hotel on the lake. It is stated that the income from the hotel to be built in Edremit will be distributed to AKP members under the name of social assistance.

ANF spoke to the people of Edremit. The citizens are against both the project construction and State-appointed Ismail Say. The people said that Ismail Say usurped Edremit Municipality, which had been won by the HDP in the March 31 elections. They added that they have been denied and usurped their will and condemned projects who, they said, are just for the profit of the AKP.

Citizens said that Edremit trustee has destroyed the workplaces of dozens of tradesmen on the beach. "They were supposed to open the beach to the public. – said one citizen – Instead they gave the workplaces they destroyed to the AKP members. Now it’s the time of the lake. Any work they will do won’t benefit the people. This hotel will be run by an AKP baron. Fund will be transferred to AKP supporters."
