Educator on hunger strike for 62 days refuses medical treatment

Educator Nuriye Gülmen, who has entered the 62nd day of the hunger strike in Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue with the motto "I want my job back”, fainted last night.
Educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who lost their jobs have been on hunger strike in Turkish capital Ankara's central Yüksel Avenue for 62 days in order to be reinstated.
Gülmen fainted last night after her blood pressure dropped to 35. She was later taken home in order to get some rest.
The other hunger striker Semih Özakça and supporter Esra Özakça made statements on their social media accounts regarding Gülmen’s health condition.
In these statements, it was remarked that Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça were experiencing the consequences of the hunger strike and refused medical treatment. Gülmen is reported to have lost 8 kilos during the hunger strike.
The statement said: “Gülmen and Özakça began to experience the expected results of the hunger strike. Özakça is experiencing headache, burning sensation in the stomach and difficulty with walking, whereas Nuriye has developed muscle pain, headache, burning sensation in the stomach, weakness, tiredness, and low blood pressure. What happened today is part of problems caused by the hunger strike."
