Eğitim Sen Antep Branch has held a press conference calling for strong participation in the mass rally to take place in capital Ankara on 23 November to protest against the education system and policies of the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party) government.
Speaking at the press conference, Eğitim Sen Antep Branch Chair Ömer Faruk Koç pointed out that the so called 4+4+4 education system, which will extend mandatory schooling to 12 years divided into three levels, deepened the problems in the field of training, and remarked that the government designed the education system in line with its political and ideological infrastructure.
Reminding that dozens of union members are still being held in prison because of their union activities, Koç underlined that; “We cannot just sit back and watch the imposition of the 4+4+4 education system which will hypothecate the future of our children”.
Koç called on all workers of education and science, and all parents concerned over the future of their children, to join the mass rally to take place in capital Ankara on 23 November. The demo will voice the reactions against the present education system and demands for a solution to the current problems in the system.
