Ehmed called on the UN to prevent further massacres

Ilham Ehmed, co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) held a press conference in Stockholm, where she has been holding diplomatic talks for two days.

Ilham Ehmed, co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), made detailed statements about the attacks carried out by the Turkish state against Rojava.

Ehmed reminded that the attacks have been going on for 9 days and that Turkey has targeted the regions where Kurds, Arabs, Assyrian-Syriacs leave, forcing thousands to flee their homes.

Turkey attacked the most peaceful region in Syria

Ehmed underlined that Turkey has attacked the most peaceful region in Syria. A region, she added, where people lived together, yet the Turkish state insists on war and occupation policies.

Rojava is no threat to any country and "unfortunately the US withdrew its forces thus promoting the possibility for Turkey to attack."

Ehmed said that the SDF and the Kurdish forces had to negotiate with the Russian and Syrian regime in order to protect the borders and the people who were being massacred by Turkey and its mercenary allies.

"Many civilians lost their lives as a result of the attacks carried out by the Turkish state. - said Ehmed - We have around 500 dead and wounded. The situation is very serious and worrying, hundreds of thousands of people had to leave their homes. All aid organizations in the region have withdrawn."

Turkey is attacking civilians

Ehmed said that Turkish warplanes attacked civilian settlements, damaged the water and electricity infrastructures, and targeted civilians convoys.

"Turkey have called jihadist mercenaries to do the job together with the army", said Ehmed, underlining that the situation in Serêkaniyê under siege, is very grave and that there is no water and electricity in the city.

Ehmed saying that there are evidences of Turkey having used chemical weapons and called on the UN to investigate the claims. "A humanitarian corridor should be opened for Serêkaniyê. This is the responsibility of the United Nations."

Ehmed warned that the attacks carried out by the Turkish state could lead to the strengthening of ISIS in northern Syria and the establishment of a new caliphate.
