Eight people died and 64 others were injured in a blast in southeastern province of Antep Monday night, announced Governor of Antep Erdal Ata in his statement after the incident. Most of the wounded are reported to be police officers.
The explosion near Karþýyaka police station occurred after, according to initial reports, a truck full of explosives was detonated near the scene. A bus and a car at the scene caught on fire in the blast according to eye witnesses.
Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) building in Antep was attacked and set on fire after the blast by a group nationalist people chanting slogans against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The group however wasnt intervened by Turkish police.
A crisis desk was established in Ankara after the explosion under the leadership of Fatma Þahin, Minister of Family and Social Policies. On the other hand, Interior Minister Ýdris Naim Þahin and Director General of Public Security Mehmet Kýlýçlsr will go to Antep tomorrow morning to make examinations at the scene of the blast attack.
