Eight HDP members jailed in Istanbul

Eight of the 16 HDP members detained on Sunday following a raid on the HDP Sancaktepe district branch have been jailed.

Special operations police conducted a raid on the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) office in Sancaktepe district of Istanbul Sunday evening and detained 16 members of the party.

Masked special forces stormed the premises on charges of "illegal posters" and ravaged the offices, also writing a fascist slogan on the blackboard inside.

Eight of the 16 HDP members detained in the raid have been jailed after appearing in court yesterday. Those remanded in custody include district co-chair İlknur Yusufoğlu and HDP Istanbul province executive Nevzat Kılıç.
