Eight people were killed and 15 others were wounded in an explosion at a galvanization plant in the southeastern province of Antep on Wednesday.

Asım Güzelbey, mayor of Antep, said in a statement after the explosion that rescue works were continuing at the factory at Antep 4^th Organized Industrial Site. According to Güzelbey no news has been received yet on two people who are believed to have been at the scene before the explosion occurred.

The cause of explosion remains unknown.
