Election Board rejects HDP application for impartiality of elections

HDP has applied to the Supreme Election Board twice to denounce that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan violated the constitution and impartiality of elections in his remarks during the rallies he has recently attended.

The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has rejected the second, following the first, application filed by the DP (Peoples' Democratic Party) regarding the rallies organised by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the pre-election period.

HDP has applied to the Supreme Election Board twice to denounce that President Erdoğan violated the constitution and impartiality of elections in his remarks during the rallies he has recently attended.

The Supreme Election Board has rejected an application filed by HDP vice co-chair Ali Ürküt against the remarks of Erdoğan during the rally he held under the name of “mass opening” ceremony in Tekirdağ on 5 May.

The party said in a statement about the rejection of their applications that they will continue the struggle against these unlawful initiatives and bring the issue to the Constitutional Court.

HDP is expected to appeal to the Constitutional Court after the submission of the official ruling of the Supreme Election Board.
