After the recent assault carried out against the police in Dersim, authorities have declared emergency rule in the region and began to implement heavy security measures.

Police carried out a series of house raids today in Yolkonak (Sorpiyan) Village in Dersim. During the raids, police detained Ercan Muç. Fifteen people have been taken into custody so far, and authorities have not given the lawyers of the detainees any information about their clients.

Moreover, as part of the declaration of emergency rule, police and soldiers are controlling the entrances and exits of three parts of the city.

A group of Turkish policemen playing football in Dersim were shot at late last Sunday. A senior officer and his wife were killed while eight other police officers had been wounded.
