Erdoðan: We have to wait for court ruling on Roboski

Speaking to reporters on NTV on Friday evening, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan claimed that not all of the 34 people killed in Roboski were civilians. “People are saying that all those who died there were civilians and therefore want us to apologize but we first need to see the judiciary ruling to make it definite that all those killed were civilians”, he said.

In an apparent contradiction to his earlier statements in which he had described the separation of powers (the judiciary, the legislative and the executive) and bureaucratic oligarchy as the main obstacles to his government’s actions, Erdoðan said that; “The strongest supporter of this principle is the party I lead. No one should try to distort this. I have already outlined our disturbances” and added "Our disturbance is that the judiciary intervenes in the actions of the executive and the legislative."

Asked about the encounter of BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) deputies and HPG (People's Defence Forces) guerrillas last summer, Erdoðan repeated that he will not have a talk with deputies who hugged “terrorists”.

Referring to debates on the removal of parliamentary immunity of BDP deputies, Erdoðan said that “The judicial system has already issued summary of proceedings against some MPs. From now on, we will be working on the issue as a group”.

Defending that the AKP government has taken many steps for a solution to the Kurdish issue so far, Erdoðan said that the investigation on Uludere as well as on TSK (Turkish Armed Forces) still haven't been completed. “I also watched the Heron images and I saw a group of people and donkeys loaded with things we don't know. The caravan continues to move despite the warning shot”, he said and defended that the determination of the people on the image couldn't be finalized at that moment. “Security forces consulted relevant authorities and did what was necessary. Mistakes can always happen”, he stated and remarked that the government did its duty by paying compensation to the families of the people killed. The PM added that the fact that Roj Tv broadcast so soon after the incident was “something that make you think”.
