Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), Nechirvan Barzani, at his palace in Ankara. The meeting took place on Wednesday, a day after the Turkish army's airstrikes on Maxmur, Shengal and Rojava.
The official Twitter account of the Turkish presidential office confirmed the meeting and posted a photo of Barzani and a tired-looking Erdogan in front of a Turkish flag.
Turkish airstrikes on Tuesday evening killed nine people in northern Iraq and northern Syria, including three civilians in Shengal, two members of the Self-Defence Forces in Maxmur refugee camp and four SDF fighters guarding an electricity station in Derik. Dozens of people were injured.
