Erdoğan sets murderers and coup plotters free

While astronomical sentences of hundreds of years were announced in the Kobanê Trial, Erdoğan pardoned the father of an AKP member who murdered soldiers, and two observers convicted in the 28 February trial.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan lifted the remaining prison sentences of Fevzi Türkeri, Yıldırım Türker, Aydan Erol, Cevat Temel Özkaynak, Erol Özkasnak, Çetin Doğan and Çevik Bir, who were sentenced to life imprisonment for "attempted coup" in the 28 February trial. The decision was published in the Official Gazette.

The life imprisonment sentence of 67-year-old Hacı Sülük, the father of AKP Mayor Mikail Sülük, who murdered 2 observers of the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) in the 31 March 2019 local elections in Malatya's Pütürge district, was similarly lifted by Erdoğan. The "permanent illness" and "dementia" reports of the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK), which commits political prisoners to death in prison, were presented as justification for Erdoğan's decision.
