Saturday Mothers had been gathering in the Galatasaray Square for 700 weeks, demanding information about their disappeared relatives and that perpetrators be put on trial, but their demonstration hasn’t been permitted for the last five weeks. The mothers issued a statement on Erdogan putting flowers on the monument.
Saturday Mothers issued a statement on Twitter and said: “While Saturday Mothers look for their children forcibly disappeared in custody in Istanbul, in his Berlin visit Erdogan will leave flowers on the Neue Wache Memorial for the Victims of War and Dictatorship, which depicts a mother holding her son’s lifeless body on the Unter den Linden boulevard.
