AKP Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at an iftar dinner he attended in Beştepe, Istanbul.
Speaking about Abdullah Öcalan’s Call for Peace and Democratic Society, Turkish President Erdoğan said: "We want to do what is right for Turkey."
Erdoğan said: "We are in an advantageous position in terms of realizing the goal of a ‘terror-free’ Turkey. It is unthinkable for a politician who feels a sense of responsibility towards his nation to think differently. We are not after personal gains, we only think about the future of the nation. We want to do what is right for Turkey. Our goal is to establish an environment where none of our children will be harmed. We are close to permanently getting rid of a scourge that has been sucking the blood of the nation for 40 years."
Erdoğan continued: "If we allow what happened a century ago to happen again, future generations will not forgive us. Hand in hand, heart-to-heart, we will not allow the Zionists to intervene in our region. Once the scourge of terror on our brotherhood is eliminated, we will have the opportunity to progress faster. We will never compromise on security. We will continue to fight against anyone who considers himself above the law."
