European Alevi Unions Confederation: Alevis will support HDP

European Alevi Unions Confederation (AABK) issued a call for a joint struggle for the June 24 elecions and announced that they will be supporting the HDP.

European Alevi Unions Confederation (Avrupa Alevi Birlikleri Konfederasyonu - AABK) issued a written statement for the June 24 election.

“Alevis and all minorities left out by the Turkish-Islamic synthesis are facing a great threat,” says the statement and continues:

“IF THE AKP STEPS AWAY THE BLOODSHED WILL STOP”

“The AKP government repeats at every chance they get that they are the ‘heir to the Ottomans’, and follows policies that favor certain ethnicities and sects in line with the Turkish-Islamic synthesis that created the Ottomans. AKP is primarily responsible for the bloodshed in Syria, the Middle East and Kurdistan. The way to stop the bloodshed and cut off state support for terrorist organizations like ISIS is to push the AKP away from power.”

The statement stresses that Erdoğan and the AKP are the biggest obstacle to the fraternity of peoples and continues:

“We see some names that disturb the Alevi community within the CHP-IYI Party-Saadet Party alliance. We as the Alevi society can’t stomach the fact that a primary perpetrator in the Sivas Massacre Temel Karamollaoğlu and Meral Akşener from the nationalist front.”

WILL SUPPORT HDP

The AABK concludes the statement with: “As an institution, we are calling on our members to fight together with all who stand for democracy, secularism and equal citizenship. Alevis will be part of the labor and democracy bloc.”
