Bones, clothes and G3 bullet cases have been found during the excavations to find the remains of shepherd Nezir Tekçi who was allegedly tortured to death and buried after his body was blown up by a mine in 1995.
A delegation of some a hundred people, including representatives of Istanbul, Ankara and Hakkari Bar Associations, Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TIHV), IHD (Human Rights Associaton) Hakkari Branch, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Law and Human Rights Commission and Forensic Medicine Institution experts watched the excavations in the Dola Çiya region located between the Değerli (Memka) and Köycük (Muşan) villages 25 km from the Yüksekova district of Hakkari. The excavation was led by Hakkari 1st Court of First Instance judge Yunus Topuz.
Witness Kemal Kırmızıtaş, who had been taken into custody together with Nezir Tekçi, and soldier Yunus Şahin, who was on duty at the commando brigade at the time, showed the place where Tekçi had been buried.
According to the lawyer of the Tekçi family, Hüseyin Boğatekin, bones, clothes and a number of G3 bullet cases used by soldiers were found at the scene during excavation.
The lawyer added that the result of the excavation will become clearer following the examinations to be made at the Forensic Medicine Institution.
Eskişehir 1st High Criminal Court ruling the case had earlier agreed to rule excavations for Tekçi on August 5 and 13 which were however not performed until the court has recently re-ruled the performance of excavation and exploration works upon the insistence of lawyers.
