Today the 250th sit-in was organized in Diyarbakır by Human Rights Association (IHD) and relatives of disappeared people. The families and human rights association demand justice and truth.
The weekly "Find the disappeared, try the perpetrators" sit-in in front of the Right to Live Monument at Kosuyolu Park in Diyarbakır.
This week's sit-in-act was dedicated to Kerevan İrmez whose story was told by relatives and lawyer Gamze Yalçın. Irmez disappeared on 15 october 1995 after being taken into custody in Silopi. Irmez had just been released from prison when his house was raided by special team officers who took him into custody.
The family, seeing that Irmez, 35, was not coming home, went to the gendarmerie station and asked what happened to their relative. No news was given to them. As time went by a beheaded body were found in a nearby area. Irmez's family thought he could be their relative but it turned out it was somebody else's body. He was horribly tortured and mutilated.
Since that the family of Kerevan Irmez is trying to locate their relative whereabouts and what happened to him.
