Farewell bid for Sakine, Rojbin and Leyla in Paris

The bodies of the three Kurdish politicians killed in Paris on 9 January have letf Bastille Forensic Medicine Institution of Paris on Tuesday morning.

Sakine Cansýz, a co-founder of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party), Fidan Doða, representative of the KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) in Paris and Leyla Þaylemez were found shot dead in the Kurdistan Information Office on 10 January.

The bodies of the three women were taken by representatives of Kurdish institutions. The coffins were covered with PKK flags. The three Kurdish women are being taken to Villiers-le Bel in the French capital where a farewell ceremony will be held for the victims today. The ceremony will start at 11am and will be joined by the families of the victims, representatives of Kurdish political parties, as well as representatives of women's organizations and movements  all around Europe.

Following the Paris ceremony, which is expected to be joined by thousands of people, the bodies of the three women will be taken to Diyarbakýr on Wednesday. After a funeral ceremony for the three Kurdish politicians in the main Kurdish city, Sakine Cansýz will be laid to rest in Dersim, Fidan Doðan in Elbistan (Maraþ) and Leyla Þaylemez in Mersin.
