Five arrested in Mazıdağı
Five people have been remanded in custody on the grounds of participating demonstrations in solidarity with Kobanê in Mazıdağı district of Mardin.
Eight people were taken into custody as result of house raids in the Mazıdağı district early Thursday morning, and referred to court after bearing testimony at police station.
Three among them, including two minors, were released by the court while the other five were arrested and sent to Mardin E Type Prison for alleged membership to a terrorist organization.
Speaking in front of the court where hundreds gathered to protest the arrests, DBP (Party of Democratic Regions, formerly BDP) Mazıdağı district chair Mehmet Şık condemned the attitute of the AKP government and President Erdoğan, stressing that detentions and arrests will never intimidate the Kurdish people who will never stop owning their struggle and honour.
