Five people have been taken into custody today in the southern province of Adana in the scope of simultaneous Gezi Park operations. The detainees are accused of joining Gezi Park protests in the city which has witnessed severe clashes between protestors and police using excessive force during the week-long protests in solidarity with Taksim resistance.

The young people detained today include members of Öğrenci Kolektifleri, Assocation of Youth for Freedom and SYKP (the Socialist Party for Re-Establishment. They were taken to the police headquarters of Adana.

The number of detainees is expected to increase.
