Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Mersin Provincial co-chair Reşat Aşan, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mersin former Provincial co-chairs Fatmagül Demirtağ, Aleddin Erdoğan, Selman Günbat, Human Rights Association (IHD) Mersin former Branch President Ali Tanrıverdi and Faik Kaplan were taken into custody in a raid on their homes by Turkish police.

According to reports, the 5 people were detained within the scope of a police operation launched by the Istanbul Republic Chief Prosecutor's Office.

It is expected that the detainees will be taken to Istanbul.
