Food embargo in Maxmur camp
In a press conference at Martyr Rüstem Democratic People's Council at Maxmur Camp, Council President Mamoste Yusuf gave information about the restrictions imposed on UNCHR's food aids to Maxmur for the last five months.
Yusuf evaluated this restriction as a part of the international elimination concept targeting the democratic struggle of Kurds and other peoples.
Yusuf remarked that the people of Maxmur have been subject to a restriction of food since the Hewler meeting which was held last November and joined by the U.S., Iraq, Turkey and the regional government of South Kurdistan.
Yusuf pointed out that the meeting ended up with the Turkish government's agreement with Iraq, U.S. and South Kurdistan government on the desmantling of the Maxmur Camp.
Yusuf noted that refugees have so far obtained no results from the applications they made to the UN, UNCHR, Iraq and south Kurdistan local government for the solution of the food and id card problems at the camp. Yusuf said they regarded the UNCHR, Iraqi government, UN and central government as responsible for the embargo imposed on the camp.
Yusuf noted that they demanded that the Iraqi government return the legal rights of the people of Maxmur and called on the UNCHR to abide by the duty of protection of rights and to fulfill its responsibilities for the people of Maxmur.
Yusuf also called on the government of South Kurdistan to avoid taking part in this mechanism and following implicit policies.
