Zeki Idin (43), a former executive of the Şırnak (Şirnex) Provincial Organization of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), has passed away in the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Idin was arrested in 2016 during the curfews imposed in the city, accused of "aiding an illegal organization." While held in Şırnak Type T Closed Prison, he was diagnosed with cancer. After spending one year in prison, he was released and began treatment for the illness. Idin died on Monday at Şırnak State Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment.
Idin was laid to rest in Şırnak city cemetery.
Before being diagnosed with cancer, Idin was actively involved in the work of the HDP and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP).
