Four soldiers abducted in Lice

Four soldiers of the Turkish army were abducted by an armed group, reportedly HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrillas, near the Fis plain in Diyarbakır's Lice district on Sunday.

According to the reports obtained, the armed group stopped some 200 cars and performed id control before abducting four soldiers, sergeants Melik Dikyol and Hakan Özer, and specialized sergeants Uğur Sert and Ali Akdemir, in the evening.

Turkish army launched an expansive operation and took intense security measures in the area following the abduction. The operation was joined by a large number of military units and special operation teams coming from Amed and Bingöl.

The abducted soldiers were later delivered to a delegation of the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party), which involved BDP Diyarbakır co-chairs Zübeyde Zümrüt and Mehmet Emin Yılmaz, near the Yolçatı (Sîsê) village late last night.

The BDP delegation accompanied the soldiers on their way to Duru military guard post where they were turned over to Lice district governor Tunahan Efendioğlu and military officials. The soldiers were reported to be in good state of health following medical examinations they underwent here.

Reporters of the DIHA (Dicle News Agency) were in the meantime blocked by soldiers as they wanted to follow the convoy on its way to Duru military post. Reporters were denied permission to make news at the scene.
