Fourteen political prisoners in Iran on hunger strike

The hunger strike of Kurdish political prisoners in Iran is growing.

Kurdish political prisoner Erjeng Dawudi in Benderabas prison went on hunger strike on 19 October to protest against the capital sentences and the repression and torture faced by prisoners in Iranian jails. Dawudi is reportedly being held in one person cell now.

Another prisoner Eli Muradi who was transferred from Benderabas to Mînab prison joined the hunger strike on 27 October to protest against the transfer and torture of prisoners.

No information has been received about the two inmates' state of health yet.

The protest was joined by six prisoners in Evin prison on 5 November and six other Kurdish prisoners in Mînab and Bandar Abbas jails on 20 November.

According to the statement released by the Association for Solidarity with Civil and Political Prisoners, Efşin Sohrab Zade, Mihemed Husen Rezayi, Kemal Şerifi, Derweş Zendi, Hesen Cewanî and Kerîm Mûsazade in Mînab and Bandar Abbas jails joined the hunger strike on 20 Nov. in solidarity with their friends on strike.

No news has been received so far from six prisoners who went on hunger strike in Evin prison on 5 November to protest the recently increasing execution of Kurdish political prisoners by the Iranian regime.

A local source told ANF on 21 November that the hunger strike of six prisoners in the 240th department of the Evin jail was going on. The source reminded that the Evin prison in Tehran was affiliated not to the general directorate of prisons but to the Iranian Intelligence Service Itlaat, and that the inmates have been allowed to see their families only once since their arrest.
