French MPs send letter to government about Ocalan's isolation

The letter signed by 8 MPs from the Kurdish Studies Group in the French National Parliament stressed that the isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader goes against international law.

Several MPs from the French National Parliament sent a letter to the Foreign Ministry to take urgent action about the hunger strike in Strasbourg.

“ISOLATION IS A VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW”

The letter stressed that the isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader goes against international law.

The letter also pointed out that the health of KCDK-E Co-chair Yuksel Koc and other activists who launched a hunger strike on December 17 in Strasbourg has reached a critical stage.

DEMANDING THE EU AND FRANCE INTERVENE

The letter stressed that the situation is unacceptable and calledon France and the European Union to pressure Turkey to end human rights violations.

Coming from the Kurdish Studies Group in the Parliament, the letter called on the Foreign Ministry to take action, prevent the threat to the hunger strikers’ lives and extend the necessary effort to end the isolation against Ocalan and relaunch the negotiations.

SIGNED BY MPS FROM THE RIGHT AND THE LEFT

MPs in the Kurdish Studies Group who signed the letter sent to the Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian come from the right-wing liberal Independent Democrats Union (UDI), largest left-wing opposition La France Insoumise (FI), Communist Party of France (PCF) and the LT Group which inludes MPs from Bretagne and Corsica.

The signatory MPs are: Jean-Christophe Lagarde (UDI Parliamentary Group Chair), Eric Coquerel (FI), Jean-Félix Acquaviva (Corsica LT), Elsa Faucillon (PCF), Meyer Habib (UDI), Paul Molac (Bretagne LT), Jean-Paul Lecoq (PCF), François Pupponi (Corsica LT).
