French public calls on CPT for Ocalan: Fulfill your duty!

Solidarity with the hunger strikes launched to break the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan is reaching an international level.

A large crowd in France have spoken up to make the hunger strikes heard. In a video posted on social networks, several people expressed their solidarity with the hunger strikes and called on the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) to fulfill their duty.

In the video spots that the France Democratic Kurdish Council has prepared as part of the efforts to raise public awareness, participants give a striking message.

One of the activists pointed out that Leyla Guven has been on a hunger strike since November 8 and another that there has been a hunger strike in Strasbourg since December 17.

Yet another activist said, “Isolation of a prisoner is a crime against humanity. Turkey is committing this crime against humanity.”

Some of the other messages that stand out are:

-Unlimited isolation of a prisoner is torture

-Isolation is an expression of fascism and state tyranny

-Fascist Turkish regime isolates prisoners

-Political prisoners on hunger strike

-Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been under isolation for 8 years. He hasn’t been heard from for 3 years

-Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture must take action

-CPT do your job - prevent torture, don’t stand with the torturers

-CPT do your job - break fascism, grow humanity!
