Frente Amplio of Uruguay condemns persecution of Kurds

Frente Amplio legislators criticized the illegal intervention of the Ankara government against the HDP-run municipalities of Amed, Mardin and Van.

The deputies and senators of the Frente Amplio (FA) of Uruguay, a party that governs the South American country, denounced the Turkish government for intensifying their persecution against the Kurdish people.

In a statement Frente Amplio legislators expressed their solidarity with the Kurdish population of southeastern Turkey and criticized the illegal intervention of the Ankara government against the HDP-run municipalities of Amed, Mardin and Van.

The statement recalled that "HDP deputies Ebru Günay and Garo Paylan were touring Latin America these days denouncing the oppression of Kurds carried out by the Turkish government." The two deputies had to cut short the tour and return to their constituencies.
