Thousands of mourners gathered in the neighborhood of Kazımiye, vowing "revenge for Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis," the Hasd al-Shaabi commander killed along with Iran general Soleimani.
On the night beween Thursday and Friday, the US attached Baghdad airport hitting two vehicles in which Iran Quds Forces general Qassem Soleimani, and Hasd al-Shaabi commander al-Muhandis were traveling. The 10 in total were killed, including the two top commanders. Five were Iraqi and 5 Irani.
The remains of five Iraqis were brought to Kazımiye wrapped in national flags. Mourners carried portraits of Iranian religious leader Ali Khamenei and Lebanon's Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Khamenei, Nasrallah and Hasd al-Shaabi argue that they have formed an axis of resistance against the US and Israel in the Middle East.
The funeral procession for all those killed, started in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, to move towards the Shi’ite holy city of Karbala and ending in the Shi’ite holy city of Najaf.
