GABB delegation in the Basque Country

A delegation of the GABB–Union of Southeastern Anatolia Region Municipalities- has been on a visit to Catalonia and the Basque country since Tuesday.

The delegation is holding talks with local administrations, parties, institutions and people in this region to develop a cooperation and joint projects.

The delegation, including GABB Secretary General Ahmet Ertak, Mayor of Hakkari Fadıl Bedirhanoğlu and deputy mayor of Şemdinli Sedat Töre, was welcomed with great interest in the Basque country.

Following a meeting with "Zenbar Gara elkartea", an institution for research and training on the Basque language on Tuesday, the delegation held talks with the Hernani Municipality in Bilbao, the capital city. The municipality signed sister town protocol with Şemdinli Municipality on Wednesday.

The delegation also held talks with youth and women's organizations in the city, exchanging experiences and discussing the local administrations in Kurdistan.

Following the meetings with the union of Basque municipalities (Udalbiltza) and executives of Sortu Party on Thursday, the GABB delegation will be continuing its program with talks in the Catalan region where they will meet executives of the mixed group in the Catalan Parliament, as well as officials of Catalan Left Party and Independent Municipalities in Barcelona on Friday.
