Gendarme units detained 20 workers in the site of the ongoing dam construction in the main Kurdish city Amed's Silvan (Farqîn) district early Tuesday morning.

According to the reports by local sources, detained workes have been taken to the police directorate of Bayrambaşı town. The reason for the detentions hasn't been disclosed yet.

A few weeks ago, twenty employees working at the construction of Silvan Dam started a strike action for not receiving their salaries.

In a statement on the detention of workers, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) pointed out that the detention operation came after the protest workers have recently staged. DTK called on seasonal agricultural workers and the Kurdish people to enhance their organization to achieve a free and equal life for all peoples.
