Autonomous leftist groups who claimed a series of actions during the May Day celebrations in Hamburg, Germany issued a statement and said, “Our main goal was to protest the Erdoğan regime”.
During May Day celebrations in Hamburg this year, several offices including a Deutsche Bank branch and some Turkish markets had been hit by molotov cocktail attacks.
German autonomous leftist groups claimed the attacks and said: “Our main goal was to protest the Erdoğan regime.” The groups stated that their actions were carried out “in solidarity with Kurdish resistance” and that the Deutsche Bank branch was targeted for their support to the AKP regime.
“WE CAN’T IGNORE THE EVENTS IN TURKEY”
The autonomous groups also stated that one shop with “Yes” banners during the April 16 referendum and a market that supports the AKP regime were also targeted. The autonomous groups’ joint statement included the following:
“We can’t ignore the atmosphere and the events getting heavier every day in Turkey. The spontaneous actions we carried out in Hamburg are part of our stance against the Turkish state. The targeted businesses weren’t chosen as coincidences.”
“ERDOĞAN SHOULDN’T COME TO HAMBURG
The autonomous groups pointed to the G20 leaders summit that Hamburg will host in July this year and said: “Our actions on May Day are warm up for the G20 summit.”
The leftist groups stated that like in May Day, they will carry out actions on completely unexpected targets and added: “We are warning them now, Erdoğan and other war criminals and enemies of human rights shouldn’t come to Hamburg.”
The G20 will be held on July 7-8, 2017 in Hamburg and will be attended by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as well as US President Donald Trump.
