German prosecutor demands prison sentence for Kurdish politician

Germany’s Federal Prosecutor's Office demanded two years and three months prison sentence for a Kurdish politician.

Hidir Yildirim, a Kurdish politician living in exile, was arrested on February 16 in Frankfurt and transferred to Berlin for his trial. He is accused of being a member of a “terrorist organization” abroad.

At yesterday's trial, the Federal Prosecutor's Office presented the evidence and demanded two years and three months in prison for the Kurdish politician.

On 8 December, the defendant's last procedural declaration and plea of defence will be made. The verdict is expected on 18 December.
