Governor and trustee of Van bans any public action for 15 days

The Governor, who was appointed as trustee to the Van Metropolitan Municipality by the Ankara regime, banned demonstrations and marches in the city for 15 days.

Since the dismissal of the legitimate and democratically elected mayors of the municipalitis of Amed, Van and Marding, on 19 August, the people have been protesting against the appointed trustees. 

The Governor of Van, who was appointed as trustee, has issued a ban covering all actions for 15 days.

In the statement made by the governorship, the reasons for the ban were said to be "national security, public order, protection of fundamental rights and freedoms and the general order ”.

In the statement it is said that the ban will be effective “from 27 August 2019 to 10 September 2019 and will be in place within the geographical boundaries of Van Province. Demonstrations, actions, events are banned in open spaces. The ban relates to meeting, press releases, sit-in, stand opening etc."
