The stand set up by the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Edirne Provincial Organization on Saraçlar Caddesi, one of the city's busiest streets, on 3 May, was attacked by racists. The party’s candidate Serdal Zımba and activist Sare Ay had their arms broken by the mob. The police detained 7 Green Left Party members, the victims of the assault, instead of the perpetrators of the attack.
While 6 of the 7 party members were released, a man named Süleyman Hızmalı was sent to prison for "injury".
Surgery lasted 3 hours
Sare Ay (55), whose arm was broken in three different places by the attackers, was taken under observation after 3-hour surgery. She should be discharged today.
Ay said that although she fell to the ground, the attackers continued to beat her.
