Green Left Party breeze blows in Fatih, a traditional AKP-MHP stronghold

A Green Left Party breeze is blowing in the borough of Fatih, traditionally an AKP-MHP stronghold in Istanbul.

The Green Left Party continues its election activities in Fatih. Before going to the Green Left Party election office in Fatih, we saw the election stands of the AKP and other nationalist/religious parties in the district, and they were not so crowded.

Although we cannot see the Green Left Party election stand on the main street, the Green Left Party is working in the neighbourhoods and on the streets. When we stopped by the Green Left Party election office in Fatih Siirt Pazarı to get information about the activities, we saw that the officials were about to go canvassing in the neighbourhood.

The Election Office Spokesperson, Turgut Basunlu, said that to work better in Fatih, a large borough, they divided it into three and formed working groups.

New votes

Basunlu said that people who voted for other parties in the previous elections in Fatih visited them and stated that they would support the Green Left Party this time. Basunlu said: "There is participation from almost all parties," and added: "While visiting coffee houses, during house visits, people said, 'We used to support this party or that, but in this election we want to support the Green Left Party, because the country needs unity."

Basunlu said: "We believe that we will enter the Parliament with a strong group. We trust the people, and the people trust us."

We stand by our people

Salih Timurtaş, who has been living in Fatih for a long time and has been involved in HDP activities for years, said that the Green Left Party will make a big difference in Fatih. "We stand by our people, because a person who does not benefit his people has no chance to benefit others. Our only request from our people is to protect their votes."

Canvassing continues

Mehmet Işık from Amed, who has been living in Fatih for 55 years, said that canvassing in Fatih continues and called "on the Kurds, who have voted for other parties for one reason or another, to vote for the Green Left Party."
