The Green Left Party Election Coordination in Europe released a written statement about the overseas voting which is about to end.

“The overseas election process, which started on April 27, was mostly uneventful thanks to the foresight of our people and the strong organization of the democratic forces. For a total of 3,416,98 voters, 156 polling stations and 4,671 ballot boxes were established in 73 countries. As the Green Left Party, we fulfill our responsibility to ensure election safety and to protect the will of our people by taking care of all these ballot boxes as observers.”

'ATTACKS DID NOT YIELD RESULTS'

The statement continued: "The fascist AKP-MHP alliance, which has used all the means of the state, the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Consulates, failed to establish hegemony in any ballot box, thanks to the responsible and determined attitude of the democratic forces and the Green Left Party.

Realizing that they are going to lose elections, the government alliance has made great efforts to provoke voters by activating their 'sleeper cells' both in Turkey and abroad.

On May 7, a polling station in Amsterdam was attacked. Istanbul mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was attacked during an election campaign in Erzurum province on the same day. A Green Left Party election vehicle was attacked in Mersin and the Green Left Party women's campaign in Istanbul on May 7. These provocation attempts were all masterminded by the same organization and the same fascist centre.

The “Ottoman Hearts” (Osmanen Germania) which carried out the attack in Amsterdam was already exposed to be affiliated with Erdoğan and created by AKP's Metin Külünk. Those who organized and carried out the attack in Amsterdam on May 7 wore uniforms of the Turkish Special Operations Police, which indicate that the attack had been pre-planned.

Likewise, all the attacks in Marseille and Strasbourg in France and Bremen in Germany were organized and planned by these fascist groups.

However, we see from these attacks and the public backlash that followed that the AKP-MHP fascist alliance has no power and social support to remain in power. In all these attacks, the forces of democracy and our people showed the necessary response and frustrated the fascist provocations.

The diligence and common sense of our people abroad will be maintained until the ballot boxes are closed, the votes are counted, and our victory is declared on May 14.

'FASCISM WILL BE DEFEATED, PEOPLES WILL WIN'

We know very well from the history of our anti-fascist struggle that no fascist attack is spontaneous! The groups that organized these attacks are the forces loyal to the AKP-MHP alliance and dictator Erdoğan. We will conclude our struggle for freedom and equality with a victory of democracy by defeating them in the May 14 elections.

Fascism will be defeated; peoples will win!”
